The Flagstone Climbing Board: Innovative & durable artisan training station – more than a hangboard!

Have you already heard of Flagstone Climbing? If not, it’s about time you do!

Flagstone Climbing is a Finnish company, which brings you the hangboard innovation of the decade: the Flagstone Climbing board.

The Flagstone Climbing board is more than a hangboard. In fact, it’s something between the beloved Beastmaker and addicting Moonboard.

The Flagstone Climbing board is a training station for climbers and gyms, who are looking for a truly customizable and multifunctional hangboard experience – with a eye-catching artisan design.

Recently we contacted Flagstone Climbing and got one of thease beauties for testing. Keep on reading to find out the complete test results!

The Flagstone Climbing board pros:

  • Offers an efficient platform to train for climbing during those busy work days or when the rocks are wet.
  • Changeable holds are a big bonus. The Flagstone Climbing board is fully customizable to fit your personal needs.
  • Smaller and less expensive than the big boards (like MoonBoard and Kilter Board).
  • Dual-sidedness. The Flagstone Climbing board is installed “floating” from the ceiling or a beam, which allows you to take advantage of not one – but two sides. Build your own mini-circuit and do laps to gain endurance!
  • Ashtonishing artisan design.
  • Easy to clean. The Flagstone Climbing board has a special Flagstone finishing, which allows you to clean the board with normal household products. At the same time, the subtle finishing prevents the wood from getting dirty in the first place – while still preserving friction.
  • Add incline to boost your training.

And what about cons…?

While our crew fell in love with the Flagstone Climbing Board immediately, every product has their flaws. However, in this case the cons are more like downsides of the pros.

For example: the Flagstone Climbing board is heavy to carry around daily, so unfortunately you can’t take it to the crag with you. On the other hand, the weight is a good thing as it makes the installation very stable despite “floating”.

Hopefully Flagstone Climbing will craft something more mobile in the future, though. The hangboard superhero needs a badass sidekick!

From a climber and physiotherapist to health-aware climbers at all levels

We at Gaissa Media believe, that good people make good products. Peppe Jarmala, the father or Flagstone Climbing board is a carpenter, physiotherapist and a climber himself – and indeed, a truly inspiring person.

It’s fair to say, that the Flagstone Climbing board is a culmination of Peppe’s professionalism in both physiotherapy and carpentry. At the same time the Flagstone Climbing board materialises Peppe’s personal passion for climbing in a way, that we can all enjoy his soul work.

Is Flagstone Climbing board sustainable?

Flagstone Climbing shares our love for the nature 100%. This is also reflected to the manufacturing process of the Flagstone Climbing board in many ways.

For example: The Flagstone Climbing board is an artisan product. It’s carefully handmade almost from the beginning.

In addition, the Flagstone Climbing board is a highly durable pruduct. The luxurious combination of Finnish plywood, ash and oak lasts time like no other.

As for delivery and packaging, Flagstone Climbing is motivated to minimize their carbon footprint. Flagstone Climbing is currently on the verge of launching their sales and the delivery process and packaging practices are yet to be decided, but the company is making efforts to find ways to use recycled materials and reduce their impact on the nature.

Having discussed with Peppe personally, I believe that Flagstone Climbing is on the path to sustainability. Taking small steps towards a bigger goal, just like Gaissa Media.

Flagstone Climbing board is an investment to your personal growth as a climber

The price of the Flagstone Climbing board depends on the setup. The board and the holds can be bought separately or as a bundle according to your preferences.
